Its Blogapalooza time

It's Blogapalooza! A chance for you to meet some exciting authors and aspiring authors AND score some exciting prizes. All you have to do is read my post, and then visit the 7 bloggers below and read their entries, and try to find the common phrase used in all eight. NOTE: It WILL be a phrase, so single words like "the" or "and" don't count! Once you think you have it, email it to mikewood_3@yahoo.com and you will be put into the running for a great gift "basket" comprised of prizes personally selected by the eight bloggers. A random drawing from all correct entries will be conducted one week from today, with special preference given to those who choose to follow all eight of us!
That said here is my post for today and it is going to try to be as funny as possible

So this is the 2nd time I am seeing this tv filler, I am not sure if its a commercial, a wannabe commercial or just a tv funny because my existence in this country is not even up to 6 months old.
So with no rhyme or reason this girl dressed in some serious pink frou frou shows up on my screen she is wearing a pink gingham blouse and some serious girly frilly skirt, paired with a white belt and white sunglasses a la Jackie O, she is riding a bicycle and singing abt Harley Davidson, I don't understand what she is saying but its just funny cos she does not fit the biker chic image at all. I could not find a video to support my claim.

On another note, on the husband's 2 day trip back from the Pacific Islands he was questioned by security, (that is his special talent by the way - being stopped by airport security, so when we travel I always keep my distance) anyways he is asked who he is working with and he tells the guy the EU, the officer looks at him and says "is that a company or something?" the husband is too stunned to reply.

Now that the husband is back my son won't even look at me, they had a long hugging session yesterday night and I got a huge tub of duty free celebrations (aka the Englishman's guide to chocolate bliss especially around xmas time and at work) and a 6th bracelet to add to the collection on my arm (a tradition going on 6 years now).
Guess who I am dragging into the Interrogation room 2moro?

This is a list of the participating blogs in the blogapalooza, they are really cool blogs and its another way to meet bloggers like you and win a fantastic writers basket (P.S just because I am competitive, I would like it if someone from my current blog family won so let's go and kick some derriere).

It takes the word free to excite me

How many of us like getting stuff especially if it has the word free/gratuit attached to it?
I did not do a lot of research on this as I have used this guys before. Last year when the husband was about to graduate I used VistaPrint to order his business cards and they were free (Only paid for shipping), I checked again before I wrote this post and they still have free templates and operate in different countries from Australia to Ireland.
What is even better is they have free pens and car door magnets(I'd put it on my fridge) which can double up as book swag.

Now I know this might not be an original idea, but I started editing my book yesterday and I was reading the lines I wrote and I could not help thinking to myself how some of them would look good in a valentine's day card.
Then it hit me why can't writers be freelance writers for greeting card companies? actresses model for L'Oreal all the time. Anyways you guessed it I went digging for more info, the consensus is to send the companies a letter asking for their submissions guidelines (most of them don't really display that sort of info online but some do). They also don't pay a lot but if you get the gig it should be able to pay for a mani/pedi or more depending on how romantic and witty you are.

October has been a lucky month for me, I won 3 contests from Talli Roland, Michele Hauf and Madeleine over at Scribble and Edit. Don't forget we have a book giveaway on Friday and 2moro we shall be talking about genres and rejection.
Have a beautiful day
