Do you believe in the Magic of Christmas? I do! I do! I do! I do! I do! (I am not an ABBA fan ...not)
The most magical part of Christmas is when I have fed my family into a food coma - the kid is passed out in bed too pooped to play night games, the hubs is slumped in front of a journal or the TV and I *grins* have my cuppa hot chocolate laced with cinnamon and caramel, I curl up in my fave chair by the fireplace and have a good romance at Christmastime story to read under the afghan.
No other genre would work,it has to be romance, because if you have ever been in love you will know catching a killer or an alien does not produce the same mushy feeling you get from falling in love - so romance it is
I have compiled a list of Christmas stories out this year designed to cater to as wide a taste as possible. Happy Reading and have a very Merry Christmas
Call Me Mrs. Miracle - Debbie Macomber
Mistletoe and the Lost Stiletto - Liz Fielding
First Impressions - Nora Roberts (2008 release, but its my list harrumph)
The MacGregor Brides - Nora Roberts
A Fairytale Christmas - Barbra Wallace and Susan Meier
Naughty can be Nice - Cynthia Selwyn
Claiming Christmas - Naima Simone
All She Wants for Christmas - Jaci Burton
Holiday Sparks - Shannon Stacey
His for the Holidays - Josh Lanyon
A Cinderella Christmas - Stacy Dawn
A Gift Beyond All Measure - Anna Kathryn Lanier
Tales From Christmas Town - Wild Rose Press Authors
Mistletoe Rules - Stacy Joy Netzel
Melting Frost - Kelly Daniels
And of Course our Five Oaks Girls
Snowy Encounters - Clarissa Yip
Smitten - Silke Juppenlatz
Midwinter Magic- Nina Croft
Holiday Headlines - RM Gilbert
I am still a newbie to the world of self publishing so I honestly did not know where to go to look for Xmas stories from my self pubbed authors. Lastly all my lovely authors if you do have a Christmas story out or a fave story you like to read at Xmas time leave it in the comments and I will update this list.
I shan't be blogging much all of next week, so this list will be up for most of next week and the next time you hear from me I might be in Houston with the in-laws.
Do have a wonderful Christmas
with lots of love

Somedays I feel like Solomon, I'm not as wise as he was, but I've moved around so many times, it's impossible to have nothing to say. I am just finally catching up to the season of life I'm in - which is a homeschooling, slightly crunchy, crafting, work from home, writing and sports mum. You have now been introduced to my multiple personalities, hopefully you'll identify with one of them and stick around.

Merry Christmas,Joanna!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading.
I looove the Nora Roberts MacGregor series and her First Impressions too.
ReplyDeleteA Cold Creek Holiday by Raeanne Thayne (silhouette spec. edition)is a nice christmas story. I read a lot of harl superromance and they have too many great ones to list. This month Liz Talley and Holly Jacobs have theirs out. Last month it was Beth Andrews (Rita winner) A Marine For Christmas. So many.
I also like Susan Wiggs' Lakeshore Chronicles and they have several christmas/winter stories.
I'll shut up now. I could go on and on. I'll be popping back to jot some more of your ideas down!
Merry Christmas Joanna. Happy Holidays and have fun with the books.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't want to hear you say "Houston, we have a problem!" ;)
Thanks for the list of stories Jo,
ReplyDeleteI wrote a blogfest Christmas Tale here: http://scribbleandedit.blogspot.com/2010/12/magical-christmas-blogfest-tale.html too ;O)
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by my blog and commenting. It's always great to hear from you. I've been terrible about getting out in the blogging world and commenting due to the baking. But now that I'm done I can come by more.
I used to devour Nora Roberts' books.
Have fun with your in-laws, I'll be with mine after xmas for a week. Safe journey whereever you go and whatever you do this holiday.
Oooh, thanks for the book list!! I love reading holiday stories now.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the Christmas romances. I love reading mystery and murder books, but they just don’t have any appeal around the holidays. I did read one good holiday mystery a few years ago, it was Nora Roberts (under the name JD Robb) Holiday in Death. Then again, although it has a Christmas theme, I wouldn’t call it a holiday read.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, have a good time at the in-laws.
I have the perfect book for you, Joanna, even if I do toot my own horn. The Treasures of Carmelidrium, my story, it isn't available yet, but I hope it will be early next week. Not only do you get entangled with a bad guy, but there is a mighty powerful romance too. It's it wonderful to share our favorite reads?

P.S. Most self published authors are doing so via Amazon.

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Joanna! Thank you for sharing your reading list. I went through a phase of loving Nora Roberts. Might have to check her out again! Your vision of curling up with a mug of (cinnamon AND caramel!) hot chocolate sounds idyllic. Thank you for always being a regular commenter on my blog. I'm terrible about getting around and always appreciate seeing your smiling face over on Dark, Dark!
ReplyDeletethe Naughty can be Nice story sounds like a fun one! :) I do love the magic of Christmas. And I hope that you have a very, very Merry one! :)
ReplyDeleteYou paint such a cosy picture. I see you curled up with your cup of hot chocolate and a romantic tale.
ReplyDeleteA very merry Christmas to you too, Joanna.
Great list! Not that my TBR list needs to get any longer at this point, but hey! I could get snowed in for a year and run out of books, so I'd better go shopping again.
ReplyDeleteAwesome list! Thanks Joanna!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too! I'll miss you next week! Good luck with the food coma. :-)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a happy romantic and lovely christmas!!!!
ReplyDeleteTake care

Merry Christmas Joanna!!! Thanks for compiling the list too : )
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see others get all fuzzy and warm during the holidays. I share your sentiment with that cup of hot cocoa, but maybe laced with something a little stronger ; )!
ReplyDelete♥ Mary Mary
Thanks for the list! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, I just saw the news. I'm sure everything around you is in chaos – but ahh, a white x-mas. Added you to my blog roll so I can stalk you more easily. Merry, merry. Happy reading! And thanks for your help with Mutants! ***sends virtual Karma your way***
ReplyDeleteHi!! New follower here :-) ... this list is awesome! I can't think of how many times I've thought, 'hmmm I could SO go for a Christmas story right now!' This list will keep me going for a while. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteHouston for Xmas sounds fab! Enjoy and have a wonderful holiday with your family. Thanks for sharing your list too - I shall check them out. And I'd love to curl with a book post lunch on Xmas day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gerat list, thanks! Have a wonderful Christmas, and safe trip!
ReplyDeleteHouston? You're coming to Houston? It's right down the road from San Antonio about three or so hours. Wave when you land and I'll wave back :)
ReplyDeleteSafe journey. Happy visit. Merry Christmas!
Hi Joanna! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with the family. We're already snowed in - more fell last night - so the chances of my family getting here are becoming increasingly small.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Eva Ibbotson's Mandensky Square right now and, set in Vienna, it is a perfect Christmas read.
Happy Christmas everyone!
Merry Christmas and Merry Reading! I am going to try that hot chocolate laced with cinnamon and caramel.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Joanna. And thanks for the great list.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope you enjoy the time with your family and hope you get a lot of reading done.

ReplyDeleteerica
I love that you feed your family into a good-induced coma so you can read! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list, and I hope you have a fantastic Christmas. Safe travels!
Hi Joanna,
ReplyDeleteLovely post. I, too, love Christmas and Christmas movies. I have a few that I love to watch over and over. Books about Christmas didn't have a clue. Thanks for sharing that list. I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas.
Hi Joanna. Hope you're feeling on the uppity up again (just read your previous post). Did you get in to Harlequin on time. I was too snowed under (ha ha) too.
ReplyDeleteI just love anything Nora Roberts. Thx for list. I may refer to it over Christmas.
I wish you, the hubs and the kiddo a very happy Christmas with loads of sleep-inducing tucker!
Oh, great you'll get back to the States!
Have a good Christmas, Joanna. And a wonderful New Year.
ReplyDeleteI can't recommend too much self-published. I enjoyed "The Hating Game" by Talli Roland, but it's only available as an ebook until March.
Recently, I've been switching from YA to nonfiction. My nonfiction is usually a chef memoir.
Your Christmas plan sounds a lovely one to me - I can just picture you curled in your chair reading! Thanks for the list of book recommendations, and I hope you and yours have a gorgeously wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Joanna! There's an award for you over on my blog: http://bit.ly/eHXy9v
ReplyDeleteCatherine
You really went to town on that list! Way to go. Sending warm wishes for a Merry Christmas to you too! :)
ReplyDeleteHAVE A FABULOUS CHRISTMAS!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy holiday! I might just sneak away and pick up one of these while the kids are busy on PS3. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Joanna. I have an award for you on my blog.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a list! I love Christmas stories AND movies. I just saw a real tear-jerker the other day at my sister's house. Christmas Shoes with Rob Lowe. Wow. I think it was a Hallmark channel movie or something because I cried like a baby!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Joanna!
Oh dear. I write mysteries but I have to agree with you that Christmas is the time for curling up with a good romance. :)
ReplyDeleteI can recommend A Christmas Knight by Kate Hardy. I cried all the way through it.
Merry Christmas, Joanna, and a happy new year!
just hearing you talk about a romance novel under an afghan next to the fire.... *sigh* why am i at work!!! anywho, loved your post :)!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful holiday Joanna! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas Joanna, hope your day was blessed with the joy of the angels and the peace of the Christ-child.

ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Joanna! I hope you're having fun wherever you are at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI have something on my bookshelf called "All I Want for Christmas is a Vampire" I've heard it's hilarious and sexy, but haven't read it yet to vouch for myself.
lol@ feeding to food coma.
ReplyDeleteLovely 2011.
