Random thought of the day: What genre would you classify X-Men as?
Which is healthier eating a sugared donut for breakfast or skipping breakfast altogether?
Does your writing suffer at the expense of your blog?
Why do we always get distracted when we are about to write?
Why Isn't everybody raving about James Blunt new song "Stay the Night"?
and for all you Harry Potter Fans, what would you do if your cinema owner decides to make it a whole red tape and scissors affair and at nidnight he decides to cut it with his teeth?
Okay lets get serious, did you know that every single person regardless of their age, marital status or job are taxed to their individual limits. Even the hubs who has to be the most chilled out dude ever, still gets stressed.
Someone once told me when I said I am a SAHM who blogs and writes that I had an easy gig, my reply to this was a big "I dont think so" and I bet all you SAHMs would agree with me. Even celebs say they dont have it easy.
That said lets all take some time to chill out, keep our bodies healthy and face each day with a happy smile, if other people can do it, so can we.
P.S if you know the answer to my random thoughts today I will be grateful to know, its really bugging my brain.
I'm gonna say: Sci-Fi, Donut, Occasionally, It's Easy, Haven't heart it (sorry!), and I'd scratch my head for a bit, then charge the door.
ReplyDeleteJoanna, your random thoughts are very difficult to answer as you know, pesky person. I'll have a crack at one: Does your writing suffer at the expense of your blog?
ReplyDeleteWell, yes and no. I know I spend too much time blogging as I like to learn what everyone's up to and I like to support other bloggers with comments, but I learn so much about the writing game that I think it's positive. Also, writing flash fiction and entries for blogfest definitely helps my writing improve, so it's all good. EXCEPT I know when NaNo's finished, I'll have to curtail blogging as I'll have two novels needing editing so something's gotta give.
Thanks for thoughtful post as usual and also thanks for the :) on the e-book. Chose the one I want so thanks so much!!!!
Yikes... I have to say that your random thoughts are one's that I share with your regularly... I hope this doesn't bother me all day.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I have to Google some of those questions. After I have another donut.
ReplyDeleteSci Fi, Donut, Yes, Fear it won't be any good, haven't heard it but going to check it out right now, and I'd be fine with it as long as those teeth aren't pointed and snake-like.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the very timely reminder that everyone feels stressed. Glad to know I'm not alone. (And I'm a writing SAHM and I totally agree that it is not an easy gig -- shame on that person for saying so!)
Sorry can't answer any questions right now I'm doing NaFaWriMo..... [National Get fa.t in a month]
ReplyDeleteI considered being a SAHD. I thought that since daycare was so expensive and my wife made more money than I did, maybe I should stay home. At the time I was writing a newspaper column and thought, hey, I could stay home with the kid AND get some work done. Best decision I NEVER made!
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at how much "work" I get done on a Saturday, with BOTH of us home, I can't imagine what it would be like doing it all by myself. I have no idea how you people do it!
But i give you all the credit and respect in the world
I feel your pain Joanna. I call that the MTVitis. It's when you start thinking about plenty of pointless thing in short bursts, like in a music video. Good reflex you had to blog about it. It works for me.
ReplyDeleteWow Joanna,
ReplyDeleteSuch deep thoughts so early. I know how you feel. We all feel that way, more that we like to admit. I say concentrate on the beauty of life around us. It's there, we just need to know where to look.
Staying at home is extremely hard. I think if everyone in life experienced this side of life they would think twice before they say it was easy, They would know better.
Michael
Wait. Did someone say donut?
ReplyDeleteFound you through Clarissa today. I will answer the Harry Potter one. No one gets me out of bed at midnight. LOL

Hi Joanna,
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately life gets in the way as it's the case for most writers. In the summer I was able to blog day and night and write my stories. But in the fall, which is my busy season, I can't dedicate time to either :(
My blog and my writing have suffered greatly. And believe me, it has nothing to do with a disorganized schedule, nope! Sometimes, other things take priority :(
BTW, I wish I knew what category the X-men fall into ;) Sci-Fi, I guess.
My writing does suffer at the hands of my blog ... only because I'm spending too much time doing one when I should be doing the other.
ReplyDeleteI've wondered about X-Men myself. I think fantasy or paranormal ... I don't think it's SciFi like any of the others have said.
I'd think eating the donut would be better than skipping.
I haven't heard of that James Blunt song.
And ... that's all I got.
EAT THE SUGARED DONUT! EAT IT!
ReplyDeleteAhem.
You've really got me thinking about no breakfast vs a sugary doughnut. I think it's better to skip breakfast & have a healthy lunch. But please don't take this as medical advice!
ReplyDeleteGood luck w/ your writing & know that some days you get a lot more done than others.
Sci-Fi
ReplyDeleteSKIP the donut
Enjoy the process...
X-Men would be Sci-Fi because I think they were originally from space.
ReplyDelete(I'm sure my arse will now be kicked by X-Men uber-fans if that is wrong!)
Space is deinitely mentioned in the comics though.
What genre would you classify X-Men as? I would have said Paranormal but Wolverine origins and Magneto's inventions make me think Sci-Fi
ReplyDeleteWhich is healthier eating a sugared donut for breakfast or skipping breakfast altogether? Eat the sugared donut in moderation.
Does your writing suffer at the expense of your blog? Not really, I choose lighter materials to blog and think that actually helps my muse.
Why do we always get distracted when we are about to write? Let me know when you find the answer to this.
Why Isn't everybody raving about James Blunt new song "Stay the Night"? Never heard of it, will go looking.
Um, Science Fiction, donut, occasionally, because the little voice in the back of our heads is always a pain, I've never heard of it, (I'll go look it up!), and I'd just roll my eyes.
ReplyDelete*whew* :D
I'm with you Joanna. Let's all just take a chill pill. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy must we limit the sugared donut for breakfast? Can't we just eat sugared donuts all day?
And really someone thinks a SAHM is an easy gig? Seriously? I don't think so...
Okay, it took me forever to figure out that you were abbreviating Stay-At-Home-Mom. But yes, no matter who we are, we all have stress. Even the queen and Bill Gates.
ReplyDeleteCD
Hmmm, Sci Fi; I'd settle for half a sugary doughnut. Yes my writing suffers in one way but the blogging stimulates my writing in other ways. I'm with N R Williams on the midnight thing :O)
ReplyDeleteToo true. Don't judge someone until you've walked in their shoes.
ReplyDeleteSo many random thoughts! How many sugared donuts have you had? :0
ReplyDeleteBlog posting doesn't get in the way of writing, but spending ages reading lovely blog posts does!
I'm with Madeleine on half a donut.
Hi Joanna .. I have seen you about on other people's blogs, so I thought I'd come pay a visit!
ReplyDeleteX-men is definitely sci-fi in my book, but probably because I don't really know what is covered by the term urban fantasy - I'm not sure the term existed when the Marvel comics were first written! (Because there is no spiritual element, I would veer away from paranormal). Donut, definitely. In fact do you think I could have the other halves of Madeleine and Christine's? My writing absolutely suffers because of blogging. James Blunt ... ok. HP ... I'd wish he'd just hurry up and get out of the way!
sci fi, donut, yes, um what were the other questions? oh, um i'm a half-time SAHM (work mornings) and I don't know how I did it when I worked full time. My house is just as dirty if not dirier, and my workouts have been suffering. christy
ReplyDeletelol. i am glad no one's making noise about the James Blunt song....i personally dont fancy his singing.
ReplyDeleteGod bless SAHMs. I couldn't do it and I'm woman enough to admit it!
ReplyDeleteDid you have a web cam in my kitchen on Monday morning? In my defence, I'm just going to say that a)DH bought the donuts, not me b)they were mini donuts, not big ones, I only had two, and eating them was definitely better than skipping breakfast, you can trust me on that c)I had a healthy lunch later the same day and d)on Tuesday morning when they were official STALE I chucked the last two in the bin, rather than microwaving them and trying to resurrect them to yumminess. Honestly!
ReplyDeleteI'll also confess that I let blogging tempt me away from writing more often than I should...and I have no idea why we writers are so easily distracted! Still working on that one...
